Everything you need to know about our paving services.

With proper installation and regular maintenance, a new asphalt driveway can last 15-25 years. Factors that affect lifespan include climate conditions, traffic volume, and maintenance practices. Sealcoating every 2-3 years and addressing cracks promptly can significantly extend the life of your driveway.

In North Carolina, late spring through early fall (May through October) offers ideal conditions for asphalt paving. Temperatures should be above 50°F and rising. We avoid paving during extreme heat or when rain is forecasted. However, we can often accommodate projects year-round with proper planning.

We recommend waiting 24-48 hours before walking on new asphalt, and 72 hours (3 days) before driving on it. In cooler weather, allow additional time. This allows the asphalt to cure properly and achieve maximum strength.

Sealcoating is a protective coating applied to the surface of existing asphalt to shield it from UV rays, water, and traffic wear. Resurfacing (overlay) involves applying a new layer of asphalt over the existing surface. Sealcoating is maintenance; resurfacing is repair. If the base is still solid, resurfacing can extend pavement life by 8-12 years.

Cracks result from multiple factors: age and oxidation, water infiltration, freeze-thaw cycles, heavy loads, tree roots, and poor installation. Prompt crack sealing prevents water from penetrating the base and causing more extensive damage.
